That's far too generous to the Republicans. We also need to at least salt their fields.
Also, I just threw some money at the ACLU, and I highly suggest others do likewise if they have the resources to do so.

the administration is testing the extent to which the DHS (and other executive agencies) can act and ignore orders from the other branches of government. This is as serious as it can possibly get: all of the arguments about whether order X or Y is unconstitutional mean nothing if elements of the government are executing them and the courts are being ignored.
Yesterday was the trial balloon for a coup d’état against the United States. It gave them useful information.
Here’s how many days after their election it took various presidents to achieve majority disapproval in the Gallup poll:
Reagan: 727
Bush I: 1336
Clinton: 573
Bush II: 1205
Obama: 936
Trump: 8

The part about the Rosneft sale... yeah there's a huge oil connection here. I don't know all the details but the broad outlines are clear enough.
Tillerson at State, ex Exxon CEO... Exxon has drilling rights to more land in Russia than they they have in the whole rest of the world combined, BUT!, they CAN'T DRILL IT, because of our sanctions. Simply put, this whole Russia-Tillerson thing is about getting sanctions lifted so Exxon can drill. I would guess the Rosneft deal plays into that somehow so that Exxon wherewithal can get moving on pumping that oil.

Mr Ebell said Mr Trump's election was a "rejection by the American people of what they are told by the bi-coastal urban elite (and) the chattering classes". "The people of America have rejected the 'expert-ariat' and I think for good reason."
expert-ariat
Nice. Pol Pot, you're wanted in the war room.

I'm told reliably there is a draft Executive order on LGBT issues including adoption. Details and timing unclear.
— Josh Rogin (@joshrogin) January 30, 2017
Follow up: Admin source says LGBT EO could affect federal employee benefits & protections & adoption agencies that receive federal funding
— Josh Rogin (@joshrogin) January 30, 2017
More: EO could allow fed employees to refuse to serve LGBT based on belief marriage is b/t man & woman or gender is immutable from birth
— Josh Rogin (@joshrogin) January 30, 2017
Can’t say I didn’t see this coming, and yet it still hasn’t made me any less sick to my stomach.

They floated, they got slapped, and for now they’re backing down.
Fight everything all the time.
Whoa if true. That was quick.

Prepare for a ridiculous distraction, and a quiet signing.

Sadly, you're probably right. Regardless, having things like this delayed is nonetheless at least a small victory, because it makes the administration look weak, and optics are important in resisting fascism.

Oh you poor fucking dears. However mad you are, I bet you aren’t as pissed off as the people being detained and having every cavity finger-fucked by Trump’s CPB STASI. Not to mention, you probably shouldn’t have spent the last sixteen years villifying muslims, you twats.

Acting AG Sally Yates and ICE Director Daniel Ragsdale have both been fired for insufficient fealty to the King in Yellow. This is another way in which it took Cheeto Caligula less than two weeks to replicate Nixon.

Republicans in Congress are facing the decision of whether to cede all their power to Trump a lot sooner than they thought they would, I think.
They were hoping to enact their whole agenda before standing up to him.
He's been appropriating their staff (probably in violation of separation of powers), defying court orders and so forth. When Trump wants something that they don't... what exactly do they think is going to happen?
Can they really think they can control him?
Honestly, the spineless GOP worms in Congress are more loathsome to me than Trump. At least he has the excuse that he is morally and mentally deranged. They are choosing to put the entire country (no, world) at risk because they want a fucking tax cut.
Yabbut the fact they're morons is not really the point. There always have been and always will be sheep prepared to be led. The point is the wolves with the money and the power have used that money and power to control the election (Fox and Breitbart motivating the base, tools like Cambridge Analytica turning unfriendly voters off the opposition, at least to a position of not voting). The point is that the Democrats, for all their cosying up to business, don't have the money or the psychopathic belief in the divine right of their means to exercise the same power over the sheep.
I wish I hadn't read this piece by Yonatan Zunger. Please somebody, tell me he doesn't know shit and Bannon-Trump aren't that close to tearing up the constitution and seizing Putinesque power.
I read that too and it sure is scary. Let's hope it is an overreaction, and they are merely privileged, self-serving buffoons seeking to enrich themselves.

They are privileged, self-serving buffoons seeking to enrich themselves by controlling every channel of power they can and grabbing all the resources they can. They don't think there's anything wrong with it and they won't stop unless they are forced to stop.
