Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Last night, I sliced the everloving heck out of my left index and fucker fingers. Like they wouldn't stop bleeding and I had to clean up as much as I could and then go get blood-averse Matlock to come help me get some bandages on them.
They're OK, but they hurt real bad and open back up and start bleeding whenever I do anything, and I almost don't even know how I'm going to make a whole entire Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow.

What witchery is this? My sister sliced the tip of her finger off with a mandolin yesterday.

It must be the almonds that are defective.

A door works well, as a nutcracker - put the nut in the hinge gap when the door is open, and then gently close the door till the nut cracks. Best to use the hinge itself (metal), because tough nuts can dent the wood of the door or the door frame.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Took all the keys off of my ancient keyboard yesterday and cleaned everything. I think the keyboard is about 15 years old. It is a Dell and I haven't purchased one of those since 2005. The computer after it was an HP but I didn't like the keyboard that came it with and kept the old one. The computers since then were built for me and didn't come as part of a package.
It looked fine in my normal dim lighting but since the work from home stuff started, I've had to use a lamp and the illumination from that revealed the thick dust down around the base of the keys. Yesterday, I finally had enough and took them all off and cleaned everything with Isopropyl Alcohol. There was still tobacco (I quit five years ago) in the trays below the keys as well as nascent dust bunnies and who knows what else. Even the keys feel different as I'm typing now.

That wasn't annoying but I posted it to the wrong thread. That's trivial and somewhat annoying.

Ymir's blood cleaned untold aeons of strange accretions from his keyboard, but did not mention any indescribable foetor, nor any horribly suggestive shapes forming in the dust, let alone actual creatures from dimensions the human mind cannot begin to comprehend. Not even a regular dead Earth organism.
That is trivially annoying.

People who capitalize passwords like proper nouns when writing them down.
If the first letter isn't a capital, then damn it, you're writing it wrong! It won't work!

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Since quarantine became a thing we've been making most of our coffee *gasp* at home! So I've been ordering whole beans from different coffee shops. The order that the USPS ate was from here Access denied
Which is a shame because I was really looking forward to trying it.

My first (and frankly also my second) thought was that you have a wooden board on the wall where you keep all your keys and you cleaned them. Then I thought that 15 years wasn't really ancient for such a keyboard. That's hardly even old!
And finally I noticed that you were talking about one of those new typewriter things. Trivial, annoying and now I feel ancient. Thanks man!

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
It has been 1179 days since a trivial thing annoyed someone.
My bathroom sink is partially clogged, I'm annoyed by this because I know why it's clogged and that I will certainly need to take the little U bend off to fix it as no amount of Draino will do.
I dropped a toothpaste cap down the drain, twice.
I had hoped the first one found its way on out to the water treatment plant before the second one joined it but it's pretty clear it has not.
I bought a new sink strainer but at the moment I have no more toothpaste caps to drop so I'm not sure how effective it is.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Well, this is definitely a very laid-back crowd if they've really gone a tad over three years without being annoyed.
Probably it's more likely that the annoyances have not oft been worth coming here to bitch about them.
For me, I promised first thing this morning that I was going the get more of The Mrs' favorite fruit juice at the Grocery store (about a 20 minute drive from home)
We forgot when we went over to the clinic this AM. so this afternoon I decided to celebrate my freedom from that brace by making an afternoon run in to town to get some Pizza for dinner, and drop by the grocer to pick up some fruits and juice, and stuff.
Ran into the grocer grabbed some grapes, and Blueberries and some assorted veggies, and over to the Pizza joint, and hauled ass back home, set all the groceries down, and the Mrs says, "Where's the juice?"
Old Fart memory can be a bitch.

Re: Trivial things that annoy you
Thanks for reminding me of this thread.
Something that's been annoying me lately, is the padding-out of the simple, 'thanks' or 'thank you', by radio and TV presenters to, 'thank you very much indeed.'
The BBC seem particularly vulnerable to this plague. I once made the mistake of counting how many times the presenter, Alexander Armstrong, said 'indeed' during one edition of his quiz show, 'Pointless'. Thirty-four!
After that, I began noticing radio news presenters saying it, when handing over to each other, or to the weather reporter. I find myself unable to concentrate on the actual news now - instead I'm in a perpetual shell-shocked state, waiting for the explosion of the next 'indeed' bomb.
