I'm not optimistic but at least there's a chance that the existence of an outspoken degenerate shitbag billionaire like Musk will tilt the Overton window toward the idea that letting whomever has the most money makes the rules might not be the best strategy.

The US spends more money on defense each year, than all the billionaires are worth. Like Musk, most billionaires don't actually have cash, their worth is tired up in the stock value they own.

Musk doesn't even draw a salary, because either he is smart or crooked, maybe both.

By not getting paid, he doesn't have to pay taxes. For cash expenses he just borrows money from a bank. For some reason banks will lend him any money he asks for. Except for that Twitter purchase, that was a bit much to ask.

If this is a joke I don't get it, but if it's not I'm interested! I don't know anything about Bluesky that I didn't just learn from an article on TechCrunch, but I never use Twitter anymore and I'd like to be on the ground floor of an alternative.
