Re: Bang!
It's not too hard to believe thedoc was once a teacher, though it seems quite likely that he learned more from his students than they learned from him, at least if we're counting playground insults and childish petulance.

I don't feel like waiting a whole day, so I'm going to move things along and make thedoc's next move:
No, your face was once a teacher that learned about that stuff from your butt.

Yes but like most diseases I recovered, it just took my longer than it should have. And I did learn something from my students, I learned that I didn't want to be a teacher, unlike some who are just in it for the steady paycheck and really don't give a shit for the students. Why else do we have students graduating who cant read or do math, except that the "teachers" and adminstrators are just pushing them through to get rid of them. Try actually teaching sometime, instead of just babysitting for a fat paycheck.

Yes, now that you're not teaching it is a harder question to answer.

More casualties of your over-regulated gun-ownership over there in Merkin-land. If all those students had been freely armed, as is their birthright, they could have simply returned fire.

The other day in the Walmart bathroom, hubby and Kiddo got a scare when a fellow eliminator's gun dropped out of his pocket on the floor.
Hubby said he read a story that the same week the same thing happened in another Walmart in the same state, only that gun went off and shot another guy in the leg.
So, in Alabama at least, people walk around the store with guns in their pockets, and we've had no school shootings here in recent memory that I am aware of. Coincidence?

Also a 9 year old is going to court because of dropping a gun out of his backpack. The girl is still in critical condition.

For sure. It is the principled people who abandon the teaching profession when kids "cant [sic] read or do math."
The "'teachers' and adminstrators [sic]" who remain are clearly in it for those big fat pay checks.

Because I am an anal prick, I just HAD to google "Alabama school shooting", and learned that Alabamians can only remember 2 years back!

That was a workplace shooting because a professor shot her coworkers...NOT THE SAME as a school shooting

ETA: I am making light of it a bit, but I think it's the saddest thing that the country I live in is so violent we have specific designations for mass shootings.

Re: Bang!
Fred Phelps Jr. is on the way to Ohio to protest at the funeral of the first student who died.
The community is organizing a human chain to shield the family from the Phelps ghouls.

Yeah, Demimonde! Who said you could have an opinion, especially when we have an ex-professional educator who can't master spell-check itt!

This either-or dichotomy is poorly constructed. Either one has principles and leaves the teaching profession, or one is working for (gasp!) recompense for one's labor, and apparently solely motivated by conditions of the job, because, you know, what a super-easy job.

Let's look at the incomes of people with bachelor's degrees: the mean annual earnings of those 18+ with a bachelor's degree, in 2008: $58,600.
Please also let me know, thedoc, what jobs there are where one is paid, that don't equate to prostituting oneself for money?
