Interesting how most people in the media refer to X, these days.

"X, the media outlet formerly known as Twitter,..."

Kinda reminiscent of the way they used to talk about "The Artist formerly known as Prince."

That rebrand spike is pretty impressive, for some reason people seemed to be optimistic and then X came along to pop that bubble.

I am a touch skeptical of their claim of a 13% total decline in daily active users, not least because the people responsible for making those stats reasonably meaningful were all ditched and replaced with people whose primary goal is to make Musk feel like he's successful.

Before Musk bought it and made it X

Twitter was a mess of censorship and Deep state propaganda. Despite the efforts to sink the new X, it's actually better now than Twitter ever was. It's no surprise the butthurt and truly evil fucks that got booted and can't use it to silence and decieve anymore, will keep telling us how bad it has become

Meanwhile, nobody gives a single fuck what they say.

If X existed in 2020, Biden would have never been able to steal the election and run the country into the shitter

Not if you live in a Democrat run city lol

It's not a white supremacists problem. It's not a gun problem. Most of the killings are in large Democrat run cities that have the strictest gun laws in the country. Strict gun law don't work because criminals don't follow gun laws. We need to get rid of gun laws.

Hmm

So 5% of gun deaths are from the police killing people?

They need a non lethal way to stop criminals. That's a ridiculous number of deaths.

Those unsourced stats look like nonsense. What are they percentages of? Are other ethnicities never gun killers or victims? Are police neither black nor white?

Yep. The internet can't be trusted.

But then that's also true of the cops, and the armed thugs kicking in your door.

Or Hamas. Or the government, politicians, Nazis, used car salesmen and probably one tenth of everybody you know.

those stats were indeed made up bullshit..

The vast majority of white peoples are killed by white people according to the FBI.

3299 murdered white people in 2019, 2594 white perpetrators. I need to check my math, but I think that’s about 79 percent and not 16 percent.

Interesting, about 17 percent of white victims were killed by black people.

So I would guess that some mouth breathing, racist piece of trash used the wrong categories, but said fuck it, because ideologues don’t fact check and then other mouth breathing pieces of shit shared it one to another until it was posted here.

Old Twitter: Would fight legal battles at great expense to avoid giving user information to authoritarian governments. (Yes, that includes the US government in some cases.)
New Twitter: Just rolls over because fighting legal battles takes money away from Elon.

Old Twitter: It was possible to get banned for sufficiently vocal anti-semitism, or some kinds of sufficiently awful hate speech. Not easy, just possible. It was fairly easy to get banned for being slightly rude to whiny conservatives.
New Twitter: You can get banned for saying anything Elon doesn't like, but it's cool, he likes anti-semitism and conspiracy theories.

Old Twitter: Had multiple staff whose full-time work was keeping CSAM off the platform and cooperating with law enforcement in pursuing cases.
New Twitter: No dedicated staff on that. They did ban one guy for posting CSAM but Elon reinstated the account because he was a right-winger and that makes it okay. They also deleted all the evidence so it would be harder to charge him with the crime.

All this bullshit about "deep state" is just dumb. Actually, it turns out, the QAnon people are grifters and fakes, and there was never anything real there.

So X rolled out the new voice and video calls feature. Not just for registered users.

It's nice that the filters for request are vast and useful. Especially the "allow only verified users" to request.

So now, if you have an X account, and a Starlink account, you can have high speed full video calls with anyone, anywhere on the planet. Or just voice. And file exchange, video, stills and streaming of everything.

This motherfucker is going to end up being richer than the Saudis

Elon stans are just the most surreal thing. I remember when he announced the $20 price point for "verification", and Stephen King pointed out that he didn't want it or care about it, so Elon immediately dropped the price to $8, on the grounds that if someone who has millions of dollars doesn't want your product at all, the only conceivable reason is that you overpriced it and need to drop the price exactly 60%. And one of the stans announced that this was a "masterclass" in business leadership because it showed that he deeply understood how to make more money out of a business.

So far as I know, he's still never understood even what the business is. Like, he appears to genuinely think that verification was about conferring status, rather than recognizing existing status, and as such, has been unable to understand why turning it into the signal of "will spend $8 to suck up to Elon Musk" has made giving people a blue check a credible way to punish them for talking shit about him, requiring them to rush to clarify that they are not paying for it and do not want it.

His solution of "we'll eliminate blocking as a feature because people keep blocking the neo-nazis" shows the same failure to understand.

Honestly everything about this makes sense once you realize that he's a terminally-unfunny person who desperately wants to be funny, and uses Twitter to try to get approval and attention, and has a fanatical fan base of people who think he might give them money or a horse or something if they can just get his attention, and is building everything around the assumption that everyone else has the same experiences and wants the same things.
