In the 80s I had no idea George Michael was gay, despite the incontrovertible evidence of those shorts in the Wake Me Up Before You Go Go video.

All I had to go on in the mid-70s was album cover photos, and from those I had no clue. Saw JP in concert in 1978 and figured things out about halfway through the opening number (Hell Bent for Leather, if memory serves). It made a great show even greater. :rockout2:

Of course not, Ang. Of course not.

Lol, saw Priest circa '79? '80? Whenever the Screaming For Vengeance tour was. We had no idea at the time Halford was gay. We were completely ignorant about gay biker sub-cultures or gay culture at all -- we were all just teenage hicks from the sticks rocking out to Priest and Iron Maiden.

But years later when my girlfriend at the time told me Rob Halford came out (this was the same stoner chick who used to tell my friends that I was secretly a gay robot), I remembered him riding his Harley-Davidson on stage during the encore and the black leather get-up and the words to "Living After Midnight" and then...the aha moment.
