The underlaying theory from which I was working is a fork of two other ideas: The first being that your chain-fast-food nugget is made from a processed meat. (Hence the already minced/ground base.) And also the "keto pizza crust" recipes that I saw in a few places that use canned chicken as the main ingredient. I thought I could expand or explore in that space.

I've been making regular g-turkey nuggets in a similar fashion for a few weeks now. Standard weekly meal prep, easy and fast and can be made and stored in bulk.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention our cat Vaska managed to stick his tail in a lit candle and set it on fire. The whole thing was aflame and he had no idea.

He's fine, his fur is a little singed.

Well, it was a long drive home.

The Fried Turkey was a hit. Can't say the same for the Oyster Stuffing.
Folks in Colorado have a whole different idea of Oysters than folks back on the Gulf.

The Boy's new house is great. Well, the property is great. The house, a bit small, but he's got a great big Barn with a concrete floor and we set up the fixin's in there.

I ended up frying the oysters after the Turkey came out and introduced the Cowboys to real Oysters.

My grandchild's girlfriend (now fiancee) was here the past few weeks from Australia, and we wanted to experience a more-or-less traditional American Thanksgiving. Our son smoked a turkey on the barbeque and we had mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, stuffing (Stove Top, because Mrs. S burned the bread pieces she'd saved for that) with added turkey sausage, celery, and onion), jellied cranberry sauce, broccoli with slivered almonds, bear- and squirrel-shaped biscuits, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, whipped cream, homemade chocolate/peanut butter fudge, champagne.

Miisa: Mrs. S is one of seven kids. We tend to do Thanksgiving separately, and then do Christmas with the broader famiiy (40+ people). That larger gathering starts in the morning with eggs Benedict and continues throughout the day with a (potluck) layout of ham, lunchmeats, sliced cheeses, veggies, salads, cookies, cakes, candy, etc., and an assortment of sodas, beers, and (depending on whose house we're at) hard liquors.

I have a new recipe for deep fried deviled eggs I'm gonna try. I figure if I fuck it up it's just an appetizer so who cares.

This year, we'll have a couple of guests recently arrived from Ukraine (mother and brother of our grandson's girlfriend), and this will be their first-ever Thanksgiving. We'll have a turkey, of course, and some traditional sides (I'm not privy to the entire menu). Girlfriend's mother will be bringing dessert.

Do you want the recipe,Lars? I was looking up ways to devil up my eggs when I ran across this recipe. But now that I am considering it, I may back burner this idea and just go with its adding bacon or avacado. My daughter REALLY likes deviled eggs and I don’t want to disappoint her if they suck.

YEs, I think that might be fun, we're, hanging with family and they are all pretty adventurous foodies. Nobody here has heard of such a thing.

Lol I hadn’t heard of it either til today.

Alrighty then:

6 eggs soft or hard boiled
3Tbls mayo
1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce
Salt and ground pepper
1/2 cup flour
1 egg beaten
1 cup panko crumbs (?) *
2 cups vegetable oil
1 slice cooked bacon; crumbled
1 avocado sliced
1 lime

Cut eggs in half as you would for deviled eggs.
Combine the chipotle and adobo sauce with mayo and season with salt in small bowl and mix well. Blitz * until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Transfer to a small sandwich bag or piping bag fitted with a round tip. **. Refrigerate.

Place flour in a bowl and and add salt and pepper. Beat egg in a bowl and add salt and pepper. Place panko in small bowl. Coat egg s without the insides in flour, egg and lastly panko. Set aside.

Heat oil in saucepan or wok til 350 and a cube of bread browns*** in 15 seconds. add the coated eggs empty of their yolk. Fry for one to two minutes until golden brown on both sides. Remove to paper towel lined plate. Season with salt while hot. When all have been fried, snip hole in corner of each bag if using (which I myself would not be) and put the egg filler mixture into the center of each fried white.

Place a few slices of avocado on each and crumble with bacon.

* what the fuck are panko crumbs and what does blitz mean? And is there a better layman’s term?

** what the fuck is a piping bag?

*** what the fuck are bread browns? Croutons?

Idk this recipe is Canadian.

Enjoy Lars and family!

My Cousin says that's a variation of something her Grandma (My Great Aunt) used to do for an "After Mardi Gras Breakfast" many years back. She would use Sausage and Cornbread batter. They called them "oeufs couverts" - "Covered Eggs"

Seems kind of a Cajun version of Scotch Eggs.

A Japanese style of breadcrumb. More like small flakes than crumbs. Makes for a nice light and crispy crumb coating, definitely recommend if you can find some.

ETA a piping bag is a squeezable bag with nozzle for applying things like decorative frosting. What do you call those in the States?

Got home from work, and son had already baked two apple cakes (look almost like apple upside-down cakes), a crustless low-carb pumpkin mousse (sweetened with stevia), and mashed potatoes. He's baking a real pumpkin pie this evening. Tomorrow, daughter will roast veggies.

He didn't go too crazy - a ham, potatoes, squash, biscuits, and a pile of chocolate. Always gotta get chocolate at Aldi

By this point I think you had just got freaked out by the unfamiliar terms. This is just saying
"until (a cube of bread)
browns in 15 seconds"

I bought four prepared meals from a local deli for me and my mom* but then she said she wanted to smell turkey cooking so I am also cooking a turkey. I will not be trying the trick I keep seeing on TikTok where one cuts out the backbone then crunches the the whole bird flat so it cooks more quickly and evenly (allegedly) because a) the crunching sound is really disturbing, and b) who wants a flat turkey?

*I was afraid one each wouldn't be enough and the other four relatives who will be there are preparing their own (vegan) feast.

Really? Wow. I just looked and I could buy a set of four for NZD 5 which is around USD 3.

Of course the only review said the bag split on first attempt to use.

You can make your own, pretty easily. I just take a 1 Gal Ziplock baggy and cut a corner off.

you can buy a set of Pastry tips from any store, Grocer, or hardware store.

If you ever buy Kewpie mayo, the bottle is perfect as a piping bag. It even has two different tips to choose from.
