Media group previously known as Gawker and bought by Jim Spanfield is now only Quartz (whatever that is), Kotaku (Video games), Jolopnik (cars) and The Root (African American news).

I wonder how many oil-based products were involved in the whole protest operation?
That would have involved planning, materials used in the manufacture and packaging of the "paint", the tools used to apply it, transport to the site, clothing worn by the protesters, and so on.
Also the oil-based products used by those carrying out any necessary clean-up operations.

Seems like the sort of protest that will mostly alienate those who might otherwise support a "stop oil" cause.

Oh indeed, if we found out they were astroturfed by big oil I wouldn't be surprised, the powder paint protests seem specifically designed to create a big photo op while being so easy to clean up or ignore to as never really monetarily inconvenience the rich. It's all a bunch of marketing stunts. I'm just waiting for Nike to release an all orange 'oil-free' sneaker in 2025 after receiving an award for best guerrilla marketing campaign.
