Why are so many people so fucking flaky? Like I am wondering how they even function in the world and they are just oblivious...and its all okay from their end. Does it really not cause them problems?

Depends on why they are flakey.
I've certainly known people who will say yes to everything and then ignore everything but the coolest option.
Not to harsh on your rant but they might also flake for mental reasons. I'm currently flaking on a poly happy hour (which I did say maybe too and had no obligations with anyone else) because the idea sounds great and right now the mear thought of mingling with a bunch of people being unsure of who I might know sends me into partial panic. Thus I'm trying to get my shit together instead of be a potential problem at the party.

Social free spiritedness doesn't distress me, because I don't count on others socially, really. I am going to eat dinner or see a movie or whatever with or without whoever. Their company is welcome but not required.

Something in my camera bag keeps switching the camera on and then the weight of the bag holds the button on the battery grip down. It drains the batteries and I don't find out till I get to my first location. Second time this has happened, thought I'd cured it by rearranging stuff in the bag. Swears for this post: freelance, not making money if batteries are charging, Canon
PS-just bought 2 more batteries in case this happens again.

I ordered some electronics components from a cheap on-line store. The bits are delivered from China usually and come wrapped in plastic bags. So the last order to arrive from was missing a couple of 5-dollar parts - I'd ordered three of them but they only sent one.
So the following email exchange has taken place over the last few days:
cep: My last order number xxxxxxxx was missing two items yyyyyyyy - I ordered three but you only sent one.
them: We are very sorry. Please can you send photographs of the package and the items in the package?
cep: No. I already threw the packaging in the trash.
them: Were the other items in the order correct?
cep: Yes. Everything was there except for the two missing yyyyyyyy items.
them: We are very sorry. Please can you send photographs of the package and the items in the package?
So I'm giving up now. I've ordered loads of cheap items from this place over the past few years and they've all arrived okay until now. I suppose the loss of ten dollars worth of stuff is neither here nor there when I've spent over a thousand dollars with them in total and saved hundreds of dollars compared with buying the same stuff from the UK.
But why the fuck would they want me to photograph some plastic bags? I suppose this is just their standard method of not having to actually deal with complaints from loyal customers.

Ctrl-Shift-J ... that's the Outlook shortcut for quickly creating a new journal entry.
But fucking Cisco Jabber client hijacked that shortcut for one of its useless functions. ("Can't see me? Open me with shortcut!" I already had a shortcut for that.)
And of course, there's no option for customizing that to be some other hot key.
So here I am, in a hurry to document all the crap I'm working on, and having to create a new journal entry like a newbie: Fucking mouse click Home-->New Items-->(and here Outlook proves that it always sucked first) More Items-->Journal Entry.

I hope I don't exacerbate your outrage about Robert Irvine, but there may be more hatred you can heap upon him. Last week my local radio guys had their Campout For Hunger and on one of the days Chef Robert Irvine was a guest. It was during this visit he revealed his disdain for crockpot cooking. I just thought you should know he hates crockpots.

Ugh. He did some Colorado restaurant on that stupid rescue show he has, and he ordered a bowl of green chili and then started flipping out on them because it was the same substance they were smothering the burritos with. WHICH IS HOW YOU DO WITH GREEN CHILI. THAT IS NORMAL.
And then, they sort of gloss over the obvious fact that motherfucker knows fuck all about the local cuisine, and he decides to "improve" their green chili by making it to order in a fucking skillet, instead of slow cooking it, which is how you actually make green chili.
He's just a fucking hack. In fact, all those stupid Food Network asses with the game shows are. They're just a bunch of stupid, pasty old white guys telling people they're wrong.
But they are the ones who are wrong. Slow cooking, crock pot or no, is fucking magic. If you cook things just right, low and slow, it can be completely transformative. It builds up a depth of flavor and umami that you can't shortcut or cheat on. But I guess it's not action packed enough for their stupid shitty teevee shows. You ever notice how those shows are clearly not targeted to people who know how to cook? The commercials they run during them are all for downmarket chain restaurants and TV dinners.
Also, I could kick Robert Irvine's ass, and I hereby challenge him to a fistfight.

I have to be in the office today, although p. much nobody else is. I'm not ranting about that, though; I'm resigned to my fate. I figured, since nobody cares whether I get to work on time, I'll go to Carl's Jr. and get their biscuit loaded with delicious carcinogens. It's poison, but really, really TASTY poison.
So I get to the drive-through, and the lady comes on the speaker with what I assume is some garbled version of "Welcome blah blah can I take your order?" But then I start to stammer out what I want when she says something else that I really can't understand, even though I'm actually listening now. On the third iteration I figure out she's saying, "We're closed this morning."
You fuckers are supposed to be 24/7/365! It says so right on the sign! FUCK YOU, YOU BISCUITGASM BLOCKING GUTTERSNIPE WARTHOGFUCKERS GODDAMNIT

Omg not you too? We went to our preferred eastern Mediterranean restaurant within an easy walk of Miisa's place. But once we go to the counter it was all "Anteeksi" - apparently they were "closed" despite being open and unlocked and still having their display boards outside and having a customer inside.
We suspect it was more about wanting to appear closed to the 10 or so disaffected teenage Finnish hooligans outside than anything formally planned.
So we went to the other eastern Mediterranean restaurant within an easy walk of Miisa's place.

I don't know specifically which of you people are bossy old men (I have a few strong suspicions), but I am going to tell you right here and now to SHUT THE FUCK UP. Stupid whiny old fucks trying to "take charge" of everything they see, yelling at people and telling them what to do all the time. By the time they get old-old, most of them have developed a little humility. Mostly somewhere in their fifties or sixties or so, though, loud white guys just start getting all bossy and rude.
1. I am in a parking lot at the end of one of those one-way aisles, waiting to make a turn, when an approaching car driven by a BOSSY OLD MAN decides to turn directly head on into me. He doesn't hit me or anything, and he's going like 2MPH or something, but he starts trying to turn in, and he's getting all mad at me for being where he wants to drive, like he thinks it's two way despite the many giant yellow arrows and the fact that all the parking spots are angled in the same direction. And he just sits there yelling and I realize I either have to get out and fight him physically or just sort of skooch over and let the guy do his stupid, illegal thing. I flipped a coin and went with the latter and he drove past me looking super smug about winning.
2. I am in the grocery store just now. It is New Years' Eve, and this store is busy to begin with plus there are a LOT of seniors in this area. So I come up on one of the many inevitable bottlenecks. It's not super bad, though. Just a thing that happens that normal non-assholes know to be a little bit patient with. It's mainly caused by a thirtyish guy standing off to the side talking on his phone, but there are two very old ladies stuck behind someone else in the opposite direction, and they're slowly wending their way through already, when up comes a BOSSY OLD MAN behind the two old ladies, yelling at them, "Well, SOMEBODY move!" like, oh, yeah, thanks for the good idea that nobody had thought of. We were just standing around waiting for teleportation or tectonic shift or something.
Just fucking calm down, old men. Go get yourself a boner or whatever.

When I was still a bonny lad I once had a run in with a bossy old man who blocked the bicycle lane. Literally, I bumped his bossy car ever so gently with my rubber tire. He comes out all bossy and starts yelling. I calmly point out that he's in the way and that I barely touched his car. He keeps yelling and I call him a mafkees. He starts screaming that he's not gonna take that from me and so I ask him who he would take it from. That confused the fuck out of him. Meanwhile the other drivers were yelling and honking for him to get out of the way and so he got back in and I still don't know the answer to this very pertinent question.
