The Vindman family fled the Soviet Union to get away from corruption, groupthink, cults of personality, purges, and retaliation for not toeing the party line.
As it turns out, they should have picked a country not called the United States.https://t.co/bryAFEzy1S

One of the few positives of Trump is that all the corrupt people under Trump still have to deal with Trump.
After Barr gave and interview to say Trump’s tweeting was making it impossible to do his job, Trump tweeted that he has the legal right to interfere in federal investigations, just that he’s chosen not to at this time.
So awesome, we can expect Trump’s blatant meddling in federal investigations, say into his own corruption, in the future!
I can’t wait till the election results are put on hold by a Trump controlled DOJ and senate until a multi year voter fraud investigation occurs.
Thing is... they could more justifiably argue that conviction and removal wasn't necessary... if they were going to, say, vote for witnesses and investigate Trump and his administration's actions. And use their leverage over things like judicial appointments and so forth to deny Trump things he wants. And vote for other bills that would constrain him.
But they aren't willing to use any of their powers as senators to constrain him. You can argue he doesn't need the final consequence of being removed from office. But how are you going to teach him a lesson if nothing has any consequences?
This is the thing. If nothing else, one would think they would jealously guard their own authority as a coequal branch, but they've ceded that entirely with nary a whimper. Boot licking toadies. No. Apparatchiks.

Yeah, I figured no way Trump read Emerson or spelled everything right. Turns out he's quoting the NYT.
Of course, Machiavelli was all about that sentiment, except he said it about men and not kings specifically, so I guess that one wasn't good enough.
"And here it has to be noted that men must be either pampered or crushed, because they can get revenge fore small injuries but not fore grievous ones.”
With that pesky impeachment falderal out of the way, it's time to serve up some red meat for old-school Republicans. The administrations proposed budget includes gargantuan cuts in funding for CDC, NIH, Medicare, Medicaid, and ACA credits. Time for sick fucks to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps or kindly drop dead and gtfo the way of healthy folk.

“Every time he stumbled, he manufactured something to blame people,” another person in the room recalled. “He never said, ‘Sorry, I’m messing this up.’ [Other] people would screw up and say, ‘Ohhhh, I’m sorry.’ They would be self-effacing. He was making up excuses and saying there were distracting sounds.… He was definitely blaming everyone for his inability to get through it. That was prickly, or childish.”
No surprises here.
