Re: What's up with you?
You are the awesomest, Lady Shea, and Dingleford like I didn't already think of that. GAWD.
My main real heartache is that I am so ridiculously and weirdly picky about every single stupid thing that the idea of having to find a new purse that fits all my billion ridiculous requirements is pretty daunting. It took me forever to find that purse. It's a 50s or 60s black leather Koret satchel with red leather lining and a matching red change purse that I got in mint condition on eBay like maybe 8 or 9 years ago, and it was almost perfect. BUT GUESS WHAT I JUST DID. I just went to eBay and found a slightly different one and bought it. The listing is pretty janky, but it looks like it should work. Pary for my lots, guys.
This kind of thing is really big drama for me, as illustrated by the fact that I am also still on some stupidly epic quest for the right kind of socks. I may have complained about that here like a month ago or so. Yep, still working on that.

OMG I offered you wonderful leather purses but with slight character defects, that were saved from the evil corporate dumpster, and you go spend money instead. You are no kind of Freegan.

I know, and they are beautiful and you are awesome and thank you. I'm just the worst of all possible fussbudgets. Remember that time I tried to write down my rules for how to make a bed? That is not an isolated phenomenon. People sometimes think because I have weird or ugly things that I am a freegan and have no rules, but that could not be more wrong. So. Many. Rules.

It's all fine of course. I just have them all, because Hubby and I couldn't stand to see them destroyed for miniscule flaws (one of the most disgusting aspects of retail)...and luckily other higher up people were like "I am looking the other way and when I turn back around they will be gone". So hey livius, SS, purses

Bamboo is always the answer to finding the right kind of socks. I am a bamboo sock evangelist and I will not stop until everyone knows.

I'm killing time in a coffee shop waiting for someone to show up so I can tell her that her case sucks. And I'm still cold.

Re: What's up with you?
It's cold here too (well, cold relative to usual). And hubby had a fender bender last night, so I am out in the cold looking at our various cars to see if we can get enough running to get 2 of us to work and back.

But I live in San Diego! If I wear bamboo socks, I risk having an escaped Zoo panda attacking me for my delicious socks!

Re: What's up with you?
MY LIFE IS TERRIBLE. POOR ME. Also Matlock I guess, but w/e.
First, our water kettle borked this morning, and I had to heat up the water for coffee in a regular pot on the stove because I don't even have a stovetop kettle anymore as a backup. Needless to say, I had put a GREAT DEAL of research and angst into that kettle, because the narrative my life is taking these days is "LOL fuck you and your heavily researched purchases."
Then, Buddy started limping all of a sudden, so I called the vet and got him an appointment for a couple hours later, so Matlock stayed home to keep an eye on him before his appointment while I went to the Asian market like I always do on Black Friday, and in addition to the regular stuff, I got the only electric kettle they had, but in order to fully understand how to operate it properly and discover whether it belongs to normal, or belongs to brokendown phenomenon, I had to do extensive field testing and also go look up different Chinese characters based on narrowing down what they might mean, and also look up what saleratus is. (Ha ha, I'm not telling. You look it up!)
So then, we took Buddy to the vet, and it turns out that he has an infection on his foot, so he has a bandage and has to wear a little waterproof sock when he goes out, but he should be OK.
Then, I realized that I'd been walking around all day doing these things with a giant pointy acrylic shard digging into my foot and I was just ignoring it and I do not know why.

Re: What's up with you?
Im changing jobs again.
I was layed off last June and I've been working in a shit hole of a heavy equipment yard for the last six months. I Finally found something worth my wile which is nice because I'm sick of having yelling matches with the owner of said shit hole. The yelling matches are usually do to me refusing to hide problems, or roll back hour meters, or dump oil down the drain, or do work without proper safety procedures in place..etc. this has been causing much friction between me and him.
I'm feeling kind of bad for it, but he made a lot of money off an old excavator that I made work by machining a new sun gear for a very worn out planetary gear set in the final drive. made the gear out of soft mild steel, and considering the size of the machine ( a kamatsu 400) it will probably strip pretty quick.
I'll soon be doing fleet maintenance for a large school bus / coach company. something like 350 school buses and 70ish coaches. looking forward to it.
