on a diff note, I awoke to find my email had been hacked, my car wouldn't start, and I'm waiting for the 4th visit from the maintenance man to come and actually fix the leaking shower. And it's not even monday!

There are some things that I can work on so that the number of annoying things that seem to wake me up decreases (like making sure the sit-on-me cat has plenty of food and water before I go to bed--and we can't kick them out, because they rule the household and retaliate).

The joints thing is as annoying as the no sleep thing, actually, but when I am trying to sleep, then I deal with them at the same time. Right now, I'm awake, but still having elbow/wrist pain, of all things.

I am about 95% certain that nothing is seriously wrong with me, I'm just whining. Thanks for the concern, guys.

As someone w/ extensive joint issues, might I recommend that until you see the doc, you try taking a bath b/4 bed and sleep w/ a pillow between your knees. Both should help the joints some. I hope you find relief.

This shit about penalizing me for innovation (because I didn't immediately train someone else to do the same thing) reminds me of my early days with the company. Ah, nostalgia.

Yesterday I did something I haven't done in my entire working career which spans three decades: I walked out of a meeting.

Holy crap. I'd worked 50 hours this week to get numerous projects done, one of which is a last-minute Flash project which, I told everyone, would take at least 40 hours to produce. I provided screen shots and draft versions at each stage. Came time to show the thing during a meeting and explain the functionality, and I wasn't allowed to complete a phrase, let alone a sentence.

Finally I just handed the mouse to someone else, and told them "Here, you fool with it. Let me know when you're ready to let me explain it to you without interrupting me," and walked.

Boss wanted to make sure I understood that they meant nothing personal, that this was how "they" operate. I answered that I wasn't taking it personally, that this has been a chronic problem, and that it's a question of meeting decorum, not personal issues.

Someone did come to apologize. I said that I was sorry too. I didn't suggest that they go home and get their shine box.

I thought about doing a rant concerning some of my recent clients, but then I had a few good days with intelligent and decisive clients, who knew what they wanted, but trusted my professional judgment.

But... I've decided to rant about a different kind of client. Clients who are self-centered and inconsiderate turds.

Sonoma Bear has an extremely bad cold. So bad that I'm taking him to the doctor tomorrow. He got the cold from me. Where did I get the cold?

Dear inconsiderate fucktard,

Over the past month I've had about a dozen clients call to cancel or reschedule their appointment because of a sick child. Tis the season. These parents are concerned about their children and wish to stay home with them. These are considerate parents that want to nurture their children and not expose others to health issues.

You, on the other hand, show up at my door with your screaming and crying leaky bag of toxic fluid. Your child needs to be at home. Not here smearing his or her disease on every surface.

Even worse, after about 30 minutes of non-productivity (because you have to stop every few seconds to ram a tissue up your kids nose), you then announce that maybe you should reschedule. Yes, you should reschedule. But, you should have done this before you got here, so that I could have given your time and money wasting appointment to someone else.

Sadly, you are just one of about a half dozen such parents that I've had to deal with over the past month.

Thank you for wasting my time and money.

Thank you for being a parent that is self-centered and has absolutely no concern about the health of your child.

Thanks for making me sick and, in turn, sending Sonoma Bear out on a doctor visit. Which, by the way, I have to take the day off from work because of this.

I don't know what to fucking do. I watch my kid when he goes over to play at other kid's houses, because I can and he's not great at group play. One slightly older child hates him. Every time he goes within 10 feet of her, she starts complaining about how he's in her space, tells him not to play with her and so on. She sneers at him when he says hello.
Now apparently the kid is telling her mom that my kid always hits her, although if he is playing and she walks by, she also says he hurt her. For example, he builds a tower, she walks by, the tower falls, it's him trying to hurt her in her eyes.
I know my kid has issues, but the mom feels the need to inform me that if my kid has any complaints I should stop whatever I'm doing and take him home right now.
At first I felt, "fuck what the hell have I been missing, watching him all this time?" Now I realized that the mom has no fucking clue what's going on, she's never within a block of these interactions, yet I'm right there.
The lying bitch of an 8 year old has been telling her mom that shit has been happening that never did. It's nice to believe your kid, but if they are a fucking lying bitch, maybe YOU should pick up on it instead of telling me to watch my kid WHEN YOU ARE'NT even fucking there watching your kid AT ALL FOR HOURS AT A TIME.
