Until it gets done (which should just be a simple matter of coding ) a work around is to press the 'quote' button for the post and then use the 'back' button on your browser.
Didn't the button used to stay there so you could click it again to close it? I vaguely recall it acting like that once. Or maybe I'm thinking of that first spoiler hack we had where you could change the wording inside in the button.

This works either way - you can see the hidden text in the quoted part if you've not already clicked the button, and if you have clicked the button, it reappears when you click 'back'.
