Re: A Pressing Matter of Smiley Orientation
Would you like a new {mirror}{/mirror} tag that works with both static and animated gifs? (of course, it would use square, not curly, brackets).
I can make the php script - similar to the one for the talking and thinking balloons. But you might need vm or JoeP to help with the conversion of the :smileytext: to a file specifier for the gif which the php script can convert to a mirror image.

Is this a joke I'm not in on?
I use Firefox and saw all the images. On the off-chance that I might be missing something, I pulled up IE. Saw the same thing.
Hmm. But now that I've quoted you, I don't think I can reproduce the images. But I can see them.

It's not that you can't see the images, it's that the smilies are facing the wrong direction. In IE the 2nd one is facing another direction (though moving in the same direction as in Firefox).

Re: A Pressing Matter of Smiley Orientation
Dear Mr. drusus,
In the name of the "Official Random Smilie Collective of the Free Thought Talk Forum and Chat Emporium" (ORSCOTFTTFACE) we hereby strongly protest to your recently voiced intentions that "the orientation" of our proud member will be forcibly "adjusted".
We condemn these attacks on smilies' rights in the strongest possible terms. We also demand that the administration respect smilies' rights to chose their own orientation without fear of persecution.
Yours sincerely,
ORSCOTFTTFACE

Re: A Pressing Matter of Smiley Orientation
Well, that turned out to be harder than I expected!
You can try it out using {img}{/img} tags - there's no need to be a member of the html group. Quote this post to see how to do it.
It will need some more work to integrate it properly with {mirror}{/mirror} tags and allow the normal smiley text to be used, provide the hover text for the images etc.
Here's the normal popcorn: and below is the mirrored version.
Here are a few bigger mirrored smilies to stress it a bit more...
Let me know of any bugs you find - there are pretty sure to be some!

Not bad. But the hover text doesn't work on mirrored smilies...

Re: A Pressing Matter of Smiley Orientation
Dummy BB code tags in the middle of the line will fix that, like {i} {/i} only with square brackets, of course.
Having said that, .

Re: A Pressing Matter of Smiley Orientation
I think it must be the CSS (style sheets - one part of the stuff that controls how a web page is displayed). It looks like the smilies are aligned at the bottom and {IMG} images are aligned at the top. (or maybe one of them is 'middle').
In the unmentionables underwear dance post, I swapped all of them to be {IMG} to get them to line up horizontally.
When we get the {mirror} tag working, we can set it to have the same valign property as normal smilies, and then the mirrored ones will line up with the standard smilies.
If you view the page source, you see that {IMG} tags get put into the class "inlineimg" but smiley images don't.
