The Aviary - More CoH characters

Thanks to liv, Adam and BrotherMan, I could not shake the idea of a team of bird-themed characters for City of Heroes.

Haven't worked up a whole team of 12 and these three guys took up my last available space on Virtue server. I'm banking on another free transfer period for me to move all of my bird characters (including Kagaku Ninja) onto an empty server.

But, for now I have these three.

First up is Cathartes Aura, who I should have just named Cathartes. He's a claws/dark brute based on a buzzard. I actually played him for a bit, he's a lot of fun.



Next is Aratinga, heavily based on work I saw someone else do for a character named Tenerife. She's a sonic/sonic defender.



And finally is my Praetorian, the C00-K00 Clock, rad/rad corruptor.

Starting to populate the Victory server with my Aviary characters now. All but inevitable, really.

Johnny Rook is totally my favorite. He looks just as badass as the originals, and that's a tall order because those are some badass birds.

Haven't been this inspired in a while. This is Djehuti, an ibis-themed ancient Egyptian champion.

This is Fenghuang, she is named after the Chinese phoenix.

Balearica She's based on the Grey Crowned Crane.


Karrion Krow - Running out of different ways to make bird faces, so this one requires a bit of squinting. It's supposed to be like a bird's skull.


Aquila Praetoria - Using the bird-helmet of "Johnnie Rook" to create a more heroic looking character.

Aaaand that's twelve. With these last two, I'm done with this theme.

Jon Stormcrow - He's a SHAman (thank you, Bobby Hill), he's an Elec/Storm corruptor and the new Thunderhead aura makes him look pretty wicked.


Star Captain H'awk - His background is that he's a member of an intergalactic police force stranded on Earth (no, not Thanagar). He's my first Peacebringer. He's got Monstrous Reptilian feet, which don't show so well in this pic.

So now that the team is assembled what next? Are you going to help people in need? Assault Fort Knox? Hit your local renfaire to give the falconer a taste of his own medicine?

So, this pic was just released on the CoH FB page:



While I really dig the talon feet, I'm less than thrilled by the eagle's head. It's too literal or something, doesn't really fit with the styling of the rest of the body parts.

I dunno, I'll probably still use it. But, for now, I think my bird-themed guys look better.

It's not something I'd use, but from an artistic standpoint I dig it.
