Two pictures. The first shows the tree across the driveway after the Christmas ice storm. The second is from today. There is still a bit of brush and some larger pieces (under the snow) to be removed but I've been sick and it's been too cold to work outside.

Sub-zero (farenheit) temperatures and huge snow drifts on my road following high winds last night. I had a funeral this afternoon and, as of noon, the county had not gotten around to plowing my road. I drove to the end of my driveway and the walked through the drifts to to neighbors house. He had just finished clearing the road from his house to the highway, but had not gotten to the stretch of road between our houses. That stretch had the worst drifts. He put his tractor away and got out his 4-wheel drive truck and drove me to the church for the funeral. I got a ride back to my house with one of the family members who was at the funeral. By that time the county had plowed my road and I can now get in and out on my own. This is the first time I have ever had to hitch a ride to a funeral.

It's good that you had a friend who could get you there, Angakuk. Regardless of our differing beliefs, I know that funerals are a great comfort to those who mourn. The person who leads that service is a critical part of the process. I'm glad you found a way.
