How does one distinguish the actions of a mob from the actions of a group of individuals who happen to share the same opinion?
It seems to me that the former doesn't give people the benefit of the doubt and is less than generous in evaluating the worth of a person or persons opinions. Whereas the latter, at the least, acknowledges that a person has come to this opinion sincerely and honestly.
Of course, I have the luxury of this thinking because I've not faced what I would consider to be censorship by mob rule.
i'm killing myself laughing...it's funny how quickly the mob forms to deny its existence
So far, a "mob" of two. And my purpose was not to deny anything, but just to point out that your calling someone else an angry social misfit is probably that Internet-mirror thing in action.

Reason: What a horrible place for a comma. For shame.

Come to think of it, if the existence of a ruling mobocracy of angry social misfits has the effect of stemming the tide of ridiculous, blathering martyr-drivel, maybe it's not such a bad thing after all. Where do I sign up.

Now would somebody get out the world's smallest violin, and play a sad melody for Michael, so the ruling mob can shed its tears en masse for all the THC-addled nonsense he's decided not to post.
I think that Scarlatti's nearly incessant criticism of marijuana consumption is sadly misplaced. Back in the day I often had my most profound and inspired thoughts while seriously stoned. The only such thought that comes to mind at the moment is the one about the perfection of circular argument (i.e. since the circle is the most perfect of geometric forms it naturally follows that the circular argument is the most perfect form of argument). Like I said, I can't, at the moment, recall what the other THC inspired thoughts were, but I am quite certain that they were all equally profound.

Can you give a recent example on this board of what you consider to have been mob behavior?
I think this post, as with most, if not all, of But's posts aimed at me, is an example of mob-oriented behaviour.

Mick, why is it that if multiple people disagree with you, they have to be a mob? I didn't know you before you joined this message board. I read some of your posts, and thought you were a little strange. I read more of your posts, and realized that you were just an idiot. I came to this conclusion on my own. Somehow, vm's memo to shun and insult you didn't reach me. Why does that make me a part of a mob?
If we really were a mob, then this thread would end mid sent-
