Additionally, Hedonismbot used "sirrah" on Futurama, and I don't think it was an insult then, either. But if comic books and cartoons are where we are getting our cultural vocabulary, I'm willing to take Michael's word on it.

"Sirrah" originated as a diminutive of "sir," and as such is used to imply that the person you're addressing isn't worthy of being called "sir." So, it was usually intended as an insult.

i wasnt arguing michael, i looked it up and saw that sirrah is indeed derogatory, i just thought it was interesting that ive seen it otherwise in pop culture

The New Captain Kirk: Chris Pine

As previously reported, Pine had been in talks for the coveted iconic role, but had a potential scheduling conflict. Today's confirmation ends speculation on whether the actor would choose "Star Trek” over another film he was offered called "White Jazz,” to be directed by Joe Carnahan and starring George Clooney. Carnahan's own blog dropped strong hints that Pine chose "Trek" over his film, but the details of his signing on to the Trek movie have not been finalized until now.

New Zealander Karl Urban is set to play Dr. Leonard McCoy, STARTREK.COM can now confirm. Once again, this ends the recent speculation as to whether the Kiwi actor would sign on for the role.

I wonder how he'll do with the accent.

Oh! Speaking of accent! The guy who's going to play Chekov (whom I didn't post about because I didn't get the breaking story, but it's this guy) is actually Russian. I wonder if he'll be able to pull off the horrible fakeness of Chekov's accent, given that he's a native.
