And I now notice that Stormlight mentioned the Christmas release date already in this thread. That's the second time this week done that. But this is the first time the information has been five months old. :duh:

thankee sirrah.
Just FYI, calling someone "sirrah" is generally considered to be an insult.

Cheers,

Michael

Additionally, Hedonismbot used "sirrah" on Futurama, and I don't think it was an insult then, either. But if comic books and cartoons are where we are getting our cultural vocabulary, I'm willing to take Michael's word on it.

"Sirrah" originated as a diminutive of "sir," and as such is used to imply that the person you're addressing isn't worthy of being called "sir." So, it was usually intended as an insult.

Cheers,

Michael

gunslinger is a novel and a comic book so we have the pop culture trifecta.

Oh, I didn't think you were; I just thought the relevant etymology might be helpful.

Cheers,

Michael

Alert Sulu cast!

STARTREK.COM : Article

Jon Cho
, who portrayed Harold Lee on Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle, has been cast to play Cmdr Sulu in the new movie. :hyper:

Takei reacts..."Sulu's in good hands. John Cho is an exciting actor. I've seen Cho in many productions at East West Players and he always brings a vigorous sense of individuality to his roles. Under the leadership of J.J. Abrams, the Star Trek franchise is being infused with new energy and I hope John Cho plays a critical part for many years — and films — to come."

Edit: Oh wait, it's probably Cadet or Ensign Sulu. :duh:

Dang, there's like 8 people cast already, according to imdb. I need to start paying better attention.

The New Captain Kirk: Chris Pine

Quote:
As previously reported, Pine had been in talks for the coveted iconic role, but had a potential scheduling conflict. Today's confirmation ends speculation on whether the actor would choose "Star Trek” over another film he was offered called "White Jazz,” to be directed by Joe Carnahan and starring George Clooney. Carnahan's own blog dropped strong hints that Pine chose "Trek" over his film, but the details of his signing on to the Trek movie have not been finalized until now.

And Karl Urban as McCoy!

Quote:
New Zealander Karl Urban is set to play Dr. Leonard McCoy, STARTREK.COM can now confirm. Once again, this ends the recent speculation as to whether the Kiwi actor would sign on for the role.

I wonder how he'll do with the accent.

Oh! Speaking of accent! The guy who's going to play Chekov (whom I didn't post about because I didn't get the breaking story, but it's this guy) is actually Russian. I wonder if he'll be able to pull off the horrible fakeness of Chekov's accent, given that he's a native.

Ve are looking for the nuclear wessels. :excited:

And this stone fox is playing Uhura.
