"Spider" is the name of the Adamesque looking character in Adam's avatar. He's the protagonist of a comic book series entitled "Transmetropolitan", which served as an inspiration for the "transmet" smileys that bey mentions in his OP.

oh and adam was simply pointing out that he had been using spider as his avatar so he ahs as much claim to transmet smilies as i do, which is erroneous since i totally asked liv to upload them but conversely i think he should also get a keyword since he loves transmet as much as i do.

as to the smilie, it was initially the logo for the transhuman movement in the comic, i dont remember the name of people. later in the comment it becomes something of a symbol for civil disobedience even revolution. like the peace symbol. iirc

Transients.
They were people who were attempting to change their species by importing alien DNA into their own genomes. Their symbol was a three eyed smiley face, hence, all the transmet smilies here are three eyed versions of the regular smilies.
