My coworker points out that all the managers' laptops are fucked, while we engineers are fine. :lovewindows:

We're staging a coup.

On the positive side, if the Crowdstrike board had annual objectives to increase brand awareness ... done.

Crowdstrike: "Our mission is to stop breaches...."

Yup, servers that are down aren't going to be breached.

Lest you be uncertain, that's the buggy file that prevented lots of machines from booting

Have we talked about the Sonos App debacle?

Sonos, in order to support some new products, created a new app for their systems. Instead of putting this out as a beta for people who wanted these new products and features, they more or less forced everyone to update to this new app. Unfortunately for them, the app wasn't actually ready for use. It was buggy and missing features that significant portions of their users actually used.

Since the "upgrade," my sound system volume can no longer be controlled by my remote's volume control. The volume can only be controlled via the volume buttons on the speakers or through the Sonos app, but the new app keeps on forgetting my system! I rarely rate apps on the Apple App store, but I was so frustrated I'm one of the many, many people who rated the app 1-star.

So many people complained in so many forums that the CEO had to do damage control:
Sonos CEO apologizes for disastrous rollout of new app - The Verge
and they're considering allow the old app to be reinstalled.

This was an unforced error, but instead of punishing the CEO, they laid off 100 people, or 6% of their workforce. But he's confident "that today’s actions will not impact our ability to deliver on that promise.” Just as he was so confident he could force a deadline on the new app and then force everyone to upgrade and everything would work out OK.

I had considered getting a new speaker for my PC and some new headphones, and had strongly favored Sonos products up until this. Now, I'm even considering replacing Sonos as the speakers for our entertainment center.

I’m going to get a new console in order to play NCAA football,

Does anyone here know the tradeoffs between the latest Xbox and PlayStation?
