Aeonium arboreum - Wikipedia

This is an aeonium arboreum that sits outside our fence on the road.

I started watering it daily about 11 days ago. I also take a picture each day.

While there are varieties that stay purple or tend more purple, the amount of green is a function of how much water they are given, the sunlight they receive and the temperature.

Ultimately it’s mostly just a function of available water.

This is true for many succulents.

Two drives by courtesy of I fucking love science

Quote:
“This is a very unique kleptoparasitic relationship between a golden orb weaver (Nephilia pilipes) and a dewdrop spider (Argyrodes sp). The Argyrodes lives by the web of the golden orb weaver rent-free as they themselves don’t build webs, snacking on any prey too small to be noticed by the big girl, and in some cases, the Argyrodes can even [feed] on the host itself when it moults and becomes defenseless.”

And another one about Orb weavers using captured fireflies to signal to other fireflies.

Quote:
Now, new research has captured evidence that points to A. ventricosus being able to hijack the fireflies’ messaging system by making males trapped in their web flash like females. This then lures in more fireflies who think they are approaching a female, when in fact, they’re flying right into a trap.

Back when I was young'n, living on my grandparents farm in the Appalachian hills, I helped Grandpa milk the cows (Well, Cow) and we always drank fresh-squeezed Milk. I loved it. There is something about the flavor that is ruined by Pasteurization.

Of course we never drank milk from strange Cows, either. ;)

S2 meteorite: What happened when a rock as big as London hit Earth?

Meteorite was 200 times the mass of the one that wiped out the dinosaurs
Paid a visit to us three billion years ago

Quote:
It gouged out a 500km crater and pulverised rocks that ejected at incredibly fast speeds to form a cloud that circled around the globe.

“Imagine a rain cloud, but instead of water droplets coming down, it's like molten rock droplets raining out of the sky,” says Prof Drabon.
