So if Biden is as much of a con man thief as Trump, yet despite their best efforts republicans can’t find any evidence they’re willing to present to a court and have resorted to targeting his son, forcing Biden to come out in support of his family, it seems like they’re saying that the one thing Trump is good at, Biden is better.

There seems to only be a few seconds at the end of the speech.
It offers no meaning.

There's an old saying: If you the bank $10K and you can't pay, you have a problem. If you owe the bank $10M and you can't pay, the bank has a problem. (You might need another factor of 100 or so since inflation has happened since then.)

There's a similar thing with grifts. If you get suckered by a brilliant and subtle scheme, and you figure it out, the grifter has a problem. If you get suckered by something dumb, and you figure it out, you have a problem. And the only way out of that problem is to never actually process anything which might lead you to figure it out.

There was a quote from Trump in an interview, back in the 80s, right after the Tienanmen Massacre, where he talked about how the Chinese government almost fucked it up and were soft, but they took a firm hand and did what they needed to do and this is how you do good governance.

Lots of people who would hate that stance voted for Trump, and now they just have to ignore the authoritarianism, because they can never say "yeah actually I'm fine with him regarding that as good governance, we need more mass murders of our civilian population."

Well, yes he was. There were a lot of instances of obstruction by the Republicans at the time. But even with the party politics, they got some things done. It wasn't pretty. It never is. US Politics has never been pretty, but shit got done.

I actually believed that the Speaker job must be assigned to a member of the House - Someone whom the people had elected to the House of Representatives.
Silly me. I found that the rules of the H of R include this little Gem:

The House can actually assign the job of Speaker to pretty much anybody that they want after a speaker has been ousted.
There are some stated notions, like the Speaker cannot be someone under indictment.
Well, that has yet to actually be proved true.
If they really wanted to, it seems that the House could assign the job to somebody currently facing charges of such things as trying to influence an election, of even encouraging a insurrection, or interfering with a states election process.

You see where I'm going with this, I hope.

I still love Cornel West and I still think it's ludicrous to suggest that his run for President is a vanity project instead of a (likely misguided) effort to make a positive impact, but I have come to believe it would be better if he didn't run. In any case he has now decided not to seek the Green Party nomination and run as an independent instead, which significantly reduces the likelihood (I think) of his even getting on the ballot in a significant number of states.
