Re: The Biden Administration
These women that want the top jobs in business and the Military need to take a lesson from the male counterparts.
You need to have some pictures that show that you mean business. A big happy smile does not make one look like Command experience. Take a look at all those commanders and admirals and Generals. Their official pics will always show them seriously in charge. This military shit is SERIOUS Business. Who wants Grandma looking like she just broke out a batch of Ginger Snaps to be in charge of the mightiest fighting machine in the Free World?
(Not that Grandma probably couldn't kick some serious Ass if she had to. I know Mine could. But still,...)

Re: The Biden Administration
This gets into the dreaded damned if you do, damned if you don’t territory women face every day. Not smiling? Bitchy. Smiling? Soft. Someone is going to take a shit on her for being in a position of power. If anything, take a page from the late Queen Elizabeth II, she’ll smile where she deems appropriate, have a firm look where she deems appropriate. Her call, she’s in charge. The best thing for men to do is back her up, follow her lead, and if in uniform, god damned salute.
And I’m a foreigner, not in uniform.

Yeah, That's what I'm talking about. I mean, you can smile with authority. The Queen could pull it off.
My Grandmother had that look. You just knew that you'd better straighten the hell up. It worked on anyone that was the subject of that look, and yet, an innocent bystander was looking on, they just thought that she was being a kindly ol' Lady. But, you knew you were basically fucked when y'all got back to the house.
Women in authority need to pick that up and own that look.

Re: The Biden Administration
Where I live, the average worker is working 3 P/T jobs for minimum wage, and a quick trip to the grocer for a few basics costs near 100 bucks. If you ask them, they will likely say that it's not really working.

"The economy" feels just great to me. Most of our wealth is in the form of tech stonks though. I don't think it feels good to all the people losing their jobs. But the some numbers look good, and that's good for Biden. Line go up, durrrrr.

The Biden bone connected to the bank bailouts bone.
The bank bailouts bone connected to the interest rates post 9/11 bone.
The interests rates post 9/11 bone connected to the Reaganomics bone.
The Reaganomics bone connected to the US foreign policy since Monroe bone.

It doesn’t come up in every day conversation.

Economy feels incredibly great. We are savers with no debt, so higher interest rates are mostly upside. But also we're pretty rich, so

To paraphrase Chris Hayes, that's the Fed Chair equivalent of stripping buck-ass naked and twerking for three solid minutes.
Naturally, this is the death knell for the Biden administration because of what David Brooks had to spend for a burger and some very fancy booze at a New York airport eatery or some such shit.

Re: The Biden Administration
I found a reference to "The Biden Plan to Guarantee the Government Works for the People" somewhere, but the link was dead. Apparently the Biden campaign removed the page from their website sometime last year. It was last archived on April 25th, 2023. Apparently the plan proposed to:
- Reduce the corrupting influence of money in politics and make it easier for candidates of all backgrounds to run for office;
- Return integrity to the U.S. Department of Justice and other Executive Branch decision-making;
- Restore ethics in government;
- Rein in Executive Branch financial conflicts of interest; and
- Hold the lobbied and lobbyists to a higher standard of accountability.
Did some of these things get rolled into other initiatives or did they just abandon this whole project?
I understand that this has been the most progressive administration in decades on many fronts, I'm just wondering why these things seem to have been deprioritized. Especially given the beating the corrupt SCOTUS has dished out this past term.

I don't know, man, but that sure seems like an opportunity to fix a lot of stuff

Weird how we haven’t heard about Hunter Biden’s laptop in awhile almost like it wasn’t important at any time.

I guess Biden was in my hometown yesterday.

President Joe Biden signed Friday what he called a “Good Jobs” executive order, which requires federal agencies to prioritize funding projects with the free and fair choice to join a union, wage standards, workforce development programs such as apprenticeships and benefits like access to childcare.
