Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I am currently playing the MediEvil remake on Playstation 4. I plan to focus on that game for the near future. I missed out on the game when it was initially released for the Playstation 2, but I have to say having played a bit of it yesterday that I wish I had picked it up then.

Did you want that in third-person (animate, i.e. s/he, but not it)?

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I have just come across an interesting box of newspaper clippings. Lots of children have disappeared. And the paper mill seems to have burnt down not once but several times in the past 2 centuries.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
Town Square
A wide expanse of uneven pavestones lies open to the sky, bordered on all sides by the leaning, steep-roofed architecture that looms over everything in this city. The municipal courthouse stands at the south end of the square, next to the mouth of a dark, narrow alley to the southwest. Avenues to the west and east lead back into the cramped and ingrown streets, while to the north lies Whateley Bridge.
In the center of the square, rising from a circular lawn of unhealthy-looking grass and weeds, stands a strange, stone obelisk. It seems to be a monument of some sort, although you can see no plaque or marker anywhere near it.

The sides of the obelisk are much too steep and smooth to climb.
A flurry of dead leaves goes skittering along the ground, swirling past you in the wind.

"I guessed that you were married; you had a certain look about you," he says triumphantly. Suddenly he gives you a serious look and pitches his voice low. "He is headed for some dark times, Miss; he'll need all the help you can give him!"

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
You are about to step back through the eastern wall when a noise makes you stop. In the woods outside, to the east -- something is there. Something breathing. Something huge.
The sound of tearing undergrowth grows louder. Whatever it is, it's practically bulldozing its way through the forest.
The ground trembles slightly with the thing's thunderous footsteps as it tromps up the path. It's right outside the slaughterhouse!
You never even see it coming. The east wall bursts inward in an eruption of bricks and mortar dust; squirming, ropy tentacles snake out from the obscuring cloud and wrap themselves around your your body... within moments you are unconscious, mercifully spared the sight of what happens to your body in the next few bloody minutes.
*** You have died ***
You hear it pause inside the building, its hide slithering loudly against the brick walls as it moves about. There is a horrible, wet snorting sound, as if it were trying to pick up a scent, then an unspeakable, inhuman grunt of anger.
You never even see it coming. A massive, bloated shape suddenly looms up behind the hole in the northern wall, and half a dozen fat, fleshy tentacles snake out with awful, twitching speed and wrap themselves around your body. Your head cracks against a brick as it drags your body through the opening, knocking you mercifully unconscious before the thing starts on you.
*** You have died ***
You cower down in the bottom of the well as the thing, whatever it is, moves closer. A shadow falls across the mouth of the well, and then the circle of light above you is blotted out by a shape so utterly, blasphemously hideous that even its mere silhouette is enough to blast you into unconsciousness. The last things you see are its squirming tentacles groping down the sides of the well for you...
*** You have died ***
dammit
eta: yes I saved shortly before this point and restored after each death
Also, the monster is William Verlac, brother of Edward whose suicide started off this game

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
So ... anyone up for playing this? As a group*? In parallel? At all?
Anyone and everyone in the same game, I'll make the moves and post the responses.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
The game would probably say
Violence isn't the answer to this one.
Anyway your reply came before my edit.

I was playing a bullet hell shooter last night called Caladrius Blaze. It made me feel incompetent. I kept dying. I need to work on my shmup skills considerably.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
So, I've been going off into the weeds:
Getting Over it with Bennet Foddy - which is good to play for short periods and "save" when I hit a new height. This is a great love/hate game.
Doki-doki Literature Club - a Japanese style dating sim... parody? It starts out as a basic, boring dating sim, but it has already hinted it's going to break the 4th wall, and from what I know, it takes a darker, weirder turn as the game goes on.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I just finished Sakura Wars for the Playstation 4. I will be returning to Maneater and the Final Fantasy VII Remake soon. Will be playing Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen on my Vita soon. It's essentially a melding of a visual novel and strategy (turn based) RPG.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I have been playing a ton of shapez.io. It is like an abstract version of Factorio or similar factory/assembly line games. It starts very simple and then starts to get pretty complex after that. Great stuff. Free to play online.

Re: Video Games - Watcha playin'?
I finished Sakura Wars and Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen. Finishing up Shantae and the Seven Sirens now. The game has gorgeous 2D art and animation. It has some limited voice acting, but I think it would've been better either fully voiced or with no voice acting.
