One would think that considering the art's somewhat dark nature. Fortunately, that isn't the case.

I'm not supposed to eat corn, and I haven't had ice cream for about 15 years, it doesn't agree with me.

Re: What's for Dinner?
It's friend dinner night, and it's been a little cooler lately, so I'm celebrating with pot roast. With mushrooms, onion, potatoes and carrots, plus a mixed greens salad with grape tomatoes. And our one friend always brings some kind of fancy bread.
I also got a bunch of really nice plums, so we might eat those too.

Re: What's for Dinner?
I'm actually getting out of work at a decent time tonight, so it's gonna be fajita time with yet another of those steaks I got on sale (should be thawed by the time I get back home). I just have to get an avocado on the way home and make some guac.
Too lazy to make my own salsa though.

Re: What's for Dinner?
And now I am making pot pie out of the leftover pot roast and vegetables, but here is the thing: I made the pie crusts, and then I was like, "Does this smell funny?" and realized that my vegetable shortening was pretty old and possibly rancid so I had to make ANOTHER BATCH with just butter, which is always kind of tricky and man, I don't even know.
Pary. Pary for all of my lots. I am so mad and the kitchen is so messy even though I cleaned it up like a hundred times. The filling is, of course, really good, but if this crust doesn't work out, I'm going to go donate my organs or something.

Send it to me, lisapea. You're only in what, Jersey? I'm like six hours north, just give me all your pot pies.
In fact, give me all your food. I like food!

Re: What's for Dinner?
I know you really want me to live in Jersey, but I regret to inform you I'm still in Colorado. (I was born in Jersey, but haven't lived there since I was ten or so.)
Anyway, the emergency all-butter crust came out looking pretty stupid but tasting good, so the whole thing got eaten.
And I am not going to make dinner tonight.

Re: What's for Dinner?
We are trying to use up crap in our house before getting groceries, so we made a homemade sort of Hamburger Helper last night with old hamburger, old veggies, old noodles, old tomatoes, old old cheese. It was really disgusting.
And I am not going to make dinner tonight.

You should expect delivery of mine own style of doggorittos I've been using for last meal. It should take two to three business weeks for them to begin to appear.

I worked with someone who grew up in Jersey and she said Jersey was a good place to be from, far from, congratulations.

Re: What's for Dinner?
I am really tired and hungry because I haven't been grocery shopping in a while and I had to go shopping at the worst time, so I'm just roasting some chicken legs because they were on sale, with fresh bread from the store, salad with store boughten dressing, and some olives and stuff from the olive bar. I also have a jar of suboptimal harissa I made so people can put that on their chicken if it's boring enough for suboptimal harissa.

Re: What's for Dinner?
I only had some hamburger, so I was GOING TO make hamburgers too, but I have been terrible at shopping lately and had no buns or even much bread, so I made some meatballs with harissa in a tomato sauce, with basmati rice and yogurt mint sauce and salad. It was pretty good but not great. I might try to make it better some other time.

Re: What's for Dinner?
That certainly sounds like a thing with potential. The yogurt mint sauce kinda squicks me a little there but otherwise... that *could* be pretty good.

Re: What's for Dinner?
It's probably less weird than you're thinking. Pretty much just tsatziki, except without cucumbers because I didn't have any. You can use other fresh herbs instead of the mint, like dill or parsley, but I also didn't have those, and I can just go get mint out of my front yard.

Makes sense. I'd probably love it with dill.

Re: What's for Dinner?
School has meant we're eating more meals at home because we can't be disorganized lazypants (my usual state of being) anymore and survive. Tonight it's black beans + rice + sweet potato, with pineapple on the side.

Re: What's for Dinner?
Tonight is friends dinner night. I have eggplants and chicken thighs, and I made some harissa and hummus last night, so I think I'll make some kind of sumac chicken and moussaka or something? Baba ganoush? I dunno yet.
With rice, maybe a little chop salad, maybe some yogurt sauce (I also made a fresh batch of yogurt yesterday, and was going to make labneh, but I got really tired and now it's too late to start that).
Now that I've downsized the dinners to every other week instead of every week, I feel like I should make more stuff when I do. Anyway, I'll just start making stuff I guess and stop when I get tired of doing that.
