It's illegal, which is enough for me not to do it.

I might again feel that way if I lived in a place where Hulu will actually play and new shows were broadcast the same decade they were made...

LIVIUS. You should gird your loins and arm yourself with all the :powerdawkins: you can safely carry.

It's not difficult to do, just a couple things to be aware of and to learn. And like JoeP said, it's super easy to watch them on your TV unless you have a TV from like before time began.

I appreciate people responding though :) I understand that they can seem mysterious, difficult, virus-laden, etc... but it's really not difficult and there are many trusted sources you can use. I've never even had one alert my virus checker, let alone cause a problem.

I can see someone not doing it because it's illegal I guess, but it's not something that bothers me personally. I would be much more worried about, say, speeding.

Anyway, the entire world of entertainment (nearly) is available there, usually immediately after it's available anywhere else. If you ever want some guidance, just drop me a PM.

Not sure if anyone else is watching Homeland still (if you quit after season 3 I completely understand) but the first episode of season 5 was pretty good. I like how they've moved forward 2 years so they can focus on Syria.

I usually try not to torrent stuff because a) we pay for Netflix and Hulu, and b) I want to actually pay for things I like. So I still buy physical copies of my favorite stuff whenever I can.

However, there are things every now and again that I kind of feel like I have a lifetime subscription to. Music I've bought two or three times to replace obsolete or worn out media, movies I've rented a hundred times, seen in theaters more than once, or have on VHS or whatever. Those, I'll torrent, and once I've cleared my ethical hurdle, the rest is pretty easy.

That's mostly movies, though. For TV shows, I usually just watch whatever is readily available, and I can't even do that old timey thing anymore where you wait between episodes, because I am not a farmer like some of you people.

I am suddenly suspicious that liv's TV is in fact a bunch of Greek and Egyptian slaves performing behind a room divider screen.

I prefer to stream, rather than torrent. I use a site that's not technically illegal (because video files are hosted off-site; it's just a link-collector), and new things are up within 30 minutes of it completing.

I don't think Supernatural even airs here anymore, so it's not as though I have a choice. I think Australia is also rather behind on NCIS, sooo...

I also go to streaming sites, download and then watch on my TV. And it is only TV shows*, mostly ones I will never get to see on any channels I can access where I live, or if they do air, it is years down the line. I also have Netflix, though.

It isn't as if The Great British Bake-off is coming out on DVD* any time soon...

*Has anyone ever tried to binge-watch TV shows on DVD? I have, as I initially bought loads of them. Incredibly frustrating to try to go from one episode to the next. I ended up spending hundreds of hours ripping my favourites for myself into a more reasonable format so I could watch them in a sensible way.

I enjoyed the first series of Detectorists and am eagerly awaiting the screening of series 2.

If you can find it on any of your video streaming services then I recommend you watch it.

I've been watching and enjoying the show. It has been a fun ride so far. I do wonder how much the budget for the show is. How much of those foreign locations actually on location?

I torrent or stream anything I can't get my hands on through netflix or other legal means, which doesn't leave that much anymore. I don't steal as much music as I used to and anyway if I actually like it I will buy a legal copy even if I have an illegal one. Or even better: a vinyl copy.

Yeah, music one can always seem to buy legally, and the forms are generally usable (though iTunes used to lock them so that you first had to burn them to CD and the re-import them to the computer to get them to play on non-Apple devices, probably no longer the case, I haven't kept up as I don't listen to music any more). Shows not so much; iTunes and amazon don't sell them in my country, and Netfix' selection is also annoyingly regional.
Movies I also wait for and then just drown in DVDs I only watched once. :(

Oh, umm, there's ways around Netflix' regionality. It must be semi-legal because I can't imagine Netflix can't put a stop to it.

Important news flash: I found Mr Robot On Demand for free again. Apparently if I go through the channel listing it's free, but if I just look for the program by name it's paid. No idea why that is since the name listing is just another view of the same product, but whatthefuckever. Domo arigato, USA programming weirdos.

Maybe not quite as hilarious as the trailer, but definitely worth watching.

Black Jesus Season 1 Trailer - TV series 2014 - YouTube

The funniest part? It's a continuity-dependent show. Every episode actually starts with Previouslies, like an hourlong drama or action show. And yes, cannabis figures prominently in the entire story arc, in case you were worried it wouldn't.
Season 2 is in full swing, BTW. I just got caught up through the latest, Ep. 6. Still funny as hell. And although it's still an unfolding story, it's not like you'll be lost if you catch them out of sequence. The Previouslies will tell you what you need to know.

The characterizations in this show are fantastic, especially Tudi, Lloyd, Vic, and Jesus himself.* Don't dismiss it because it's part of Adult Swim; this show is tightly plotted and coherent, unlike most of the AS stuff.

*Jesus smokes weed and cusses, but still manages to be consistent with the best qualities of the Gospel Jesus. He's played by the same dude (Gerald "Slink" Johnson) who did the original Black Jesus shorts that aired a few years back, but he's changed the character for the better for this show. The original shorts had him mostly pissed off all the time, whereas in this show, he's almost invariably positive; even when he does get angry, he never loses the love. I'm not even too fond of the Biblical Jesus in general, but this guy? Awesome. He got some love, he got some kindness, he got some Good Will Toward Men! You gotta get UP on summa dat shit, bra!

This one returns on Monday, 2/15. I recently finished watching Season 1 on Netflix and liked it quite a lot. The Mike Ehrmantraut and Tuco Salamanca and his goons backstories were good, and I thought they did a great job with the whole relationship-between-Jimmy-and-his-much-older-brother thing. Looking forward to S.2.

I am deeply suspicious about the whole concept of this new Drew, but it's not the casting I have a problem with. It's the fucking NYPD bullshit. Oh great, another procedural kissing cop ass only this time they're mutilating my beloved childhood role model, a beacon of independence, intelligence, courage and curiosity, into a damn pork product.

Of all the things to give the side eyez Sarah Shahi is way down on the list. I know for sure she can lead a series. I loved her in the short lived Fairly Legal. She was fantastic in Person of Interest.

You've voiced the main concern everyone has. Why a (nother) cop show? Why not a sort of updated Murder, She Wrote?
