While filling my coffee pot this morning I was surprised by a noise. Took a quick peek out the window and saw that, yes, that really was the wind whipping rain against my house very, very hard. And then when I walked out 45 minutes later with my hood up the rain was done.

It's snowing at a decent pace right now, and we're supposed to get like 3-5", but most of it is melting due to the retained heat from temperatures being up into the 80s lately. I was all overheated yesterday because I was wearing a light cotton sweater.
It is absolutely gorgeous here today. So much so that the chairs where all the old men sleep are empty because they are all out enjoying it.

Wind advisory yesterday and today. Which apparently struck Consumers Energy as an excellent time to put a new utility pole in my yard but leave the old one in, leaning toward my elm, until the rest of the utilities in the area move their junk to the new one. Fortunately, the wind is blowing in the opposite direction so it's not too likely to fall on me or the house.

I've been bailing out our leaky window well periodically, and this being Colorado, I don't actually own anything like a raincoat, and I do not have possession of the communal one that I share with like 45 other people, so I am p. damp.
And earlier today, Matlock called to tell me that he was stuck in his car in the parking lot at the courthouse. Like, it was raining so hard he couldn't get out of the car and walk to the building, I guess. I haven't seen or heard from him since.
One less person to share the raincoat with, I guess.
The 14 day forecast looks like we have a pretty good chance of rain for 11 of those days. If you include the last 6 days, that's 4 no rain days and 16 yes rain days.
If this keeps up through the month, I may have to start bottling water and selling it to Californians on eBay.
You know the old saying, "April showers bring May thunderstorms". Or something like that.
We're on the edge of a severe thunderstorm/tornado watch to the south. So the dog will be barking at thunder all night. Yeah.

The Tornadoes were all down south about 60-90 miles. We had solid rain from 11pm to 4am and a dog barking and trying to sit on my head. Because my head must be safe. It rained 3.5 to 4 inches, maybe more. I slept from 4 to 6 ish.

Reason: The E in tor-na-dee.
The map is a little off. They should be more to the right and up a little. The storm chaser app on my phone showed 4 different sets of storm chasers 10 miles to the west of were I grew up. Must have been getting coffee and snacks before the fireworks started.
You can see the storm path based on the participation ... premeditation ... damn rain total map. Anywhere with 6+ inches probably had a tornado warning at any given time last night. The 9+ inch rain totals probably had a tornado involved.
And given they are expecting more rain, the flood warnings are starting. The ground can't hold the water so it all runs off. Leaving earthworms criss-crossing the parking lot this morning since they can't be under ground when their tunnels flood. The birds that survive will be getting fat.
