Disapprove Dear mr drusus, why have you not told us about the cemetery arms race?

I mean I knew grave robbers were trying to steal corpses in the olden days for medical schools, but I had no idea the corpses were defending themselves with guns and bombs.

Oh yes, weapons, cages -- mortsafe is the greatest Frenglish word ever -- pouring concrete over the coffin. It's unbelievable the technology deployed to ward off the resurrectionists. In Britain, the highly lucrative resurrection trade was brought to an abrupt end by the passage of the Anatomy Act of 1832. In the US it kept going well into the 20th century because states were reluctant to pass bills allowing unclaimed bodies to be used by institutions of science for anatomical study. Alabama didn't pass one until 1980.
