Okay....I'm experiencing a spring day.

It is actually shirtsleeve weather outdoors. I've been pruning and garden grooming all morning. The girls are hanging in the spa under the balcony. The heat in the house is off and the back door stands open, so Cleo is riveted by the activity she sees out the screen door. The sky is blue with a few wispy clouds. That means sunshine...a rare commodity here in Puddle City.

ETA: Driving around with the windows down.

I'm having a minor bliss.

It was a lovely warm calm sunny early spring day here today. Frosty start but soon warmed up.

Forecast is for us to return to the wind and rain starting tomorrow though.

We got a couple of inches of surprise snow this morning, and it's snowing a little bit more again.

But I had to run out really quick just a little bit ago. So I go out and start brushing off the car and remember that it rained a little bit last night, so under the snow is a thin but tough layer of ice, and it's not coming off easy. So I'm scraping and scraping and I'm not wearing gloves so my hands are getting red and numb and I'm scraping and scraping, and then, it's 20 minutes later and Matlock gets back from walking Flossy and says all breezy like, "Why don't you just take the Honda?"

DUH MATLOCK. BECAUSE I FORGOT THERE WAS A CLEANER AND BETTER CAR IN THE GARAGE! (If I were telling you this story in real life, I would do the Matlock line in a really stupid sounding kind of crackling puberty voice, to subtly convey where the mockery should be directed.)

So I took the Honda. Got my DNA all over that Honda, I did.

That'll show that Matlock guy. What a goober.

its 35 below and my furnace conks out on me, wtf?


I just spent the last 2 hours hour trying to de-ice my furnaces exhaust vent and restart the thing, to no luck. Now I'm waiting for a repair guy to show up, I think my igniter coil went. 10:30 on a Saturday night, this wont be cheap.

between the fire place, my 3 ceramic heaters and the oven I'm keeping most of the house above freezing. all the taps are running in the house just in case.

well a $430 repair bill later and furnace is running, took the guy 15 minute to change the coil and be on his way. its a pilotless furnace, uses an electric heat coil to ignite the gas.

starting to warm up today, only -20°C right now. It could always be worse, arias of Saskatchewan and Manitoba where recording a -68°C windchill a few day ago. (-90°F)

It was warm all day yesterday then it snew a couple of inches of this heavy, wet snow, and now it's sunny and back up in the mid-30s, so all the snow on the trees and roofs and stuff is melting really quickly, and it is noisy as hell.

Sunday: freezing rain, sleet, and snow accumulations of around three inches.
Monday: Colder than a well-digger's ass in December, but remarkably, not a record.
Tuesday: Barely made it above freezing, but with the sun out, about 62.7% of the frozen water melted.
Today: No sun, but it's about 40ºF now. There is rain and snow in tonight's forecast, but then it's going to warm up and be near 70ºF over the weekend.

Schools were closed Monday and Tuesday. Grandson Dylan was bored, big time.

It's a wet heavy March snow. Enough to keep me home from work. Roads are slushy but passable.

Unseasonably warm and sunny. Which means I feel guilty for spending my Saturday indoors. But when I go out I just feel muddy, blinded by the sun and dizzy from the wind, and just end up wishing I were indoors.

I hate the spring: guilt and discomfort.
