Backstory:
CodBlOps II recently released a balance patch that made a srs bsns change to some sniper rifle, adding like two tenths of a second to the fire time and a tenth of a second to the recovery time. Whereupon there is screaming. The developer chiefly responsible for the patch has a tumblr with some of the insane tweets he received. I'm not going to copypaste, since you can check out his tumblr for the exact quotes, but the chief points are:
- He is a homosexual
- He might (also?) be black
- Edit: Or Pakistani!
- He deserves to die
- In at least one case, he is promised that, if he attends a certain convention, he will be killed
- Several specific means by which he might be murdered are suggested
- If not him, then his family, specifically his young daughter, should definitely be killed
- He deserves to be raped
- If not him, then his family, specifically his young daughter, definitely deserve to be raped
- In some cases, it is suggested that it would be more fitting if large black men did the raping
- He probably has cancer, as evidenced by his being bald, and this is also well-deserved
I don't even. Like, ten years later, I'm still pretty pissed about that one early
WoW patch that nerfed Fear into the ground, and I'm pretty sure the neighbors in the next apartment over weren't too fond of the high volume obscenities that I uttered every time I got jacked by some idiot Rogue I couldn't defend myself against, or the loud speculation as to the various moral deficiencies that obviously led to a person choosing to play a fucking Rogue in the first place, but it never would have occurred to me that the real issue was Blizzard's staff being some combination of gay and black. Even if I had made that leap, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have then reasoned that the gay and/or black development team therefore deserved to be murdered, and it certainly wouldn't have occurred to me that the sins of the fathers demanded raping the daughters unto the seventh generation.
Also, putting this here so I remember to watch it when I get home. (And
at the current first comment: "I agreed with the nerf completely . The threats are obviously wrong ." I mean, come on, people. It's entirely reasonable to make death threats over a bad balance patch, but this was a good balance patch!)
