Contentment

So is being content a bad thing?

I an rather content these days. Things aren't perfect. I could probably do better if I exerted myself, but I am fine. I have steady job, good income, nice place, good gf, nothing too interesting going on. Sometimes I think though that if I put my nose to the grindstone, pushed myself , just put in a little more effort I could excel at something; whether my job, another job, volunteer work, or an ambitious hobby.

Being generally content with things though, I completely lack any motivation to do anything to improve my life. Perhaps it would take too much investment and I would see too little return. perhaps I would fail and see no return or take a loss.

So I'm thinking that being comfortable and having things good enough keeps me from having any drive to do any better.

Contentment is a state of mind and I envy you for having reached it.

Only you can say whether "I could do better" is enough to rouse yourself from contentment and get to work on it.

I don't think I'll ever know what it means to be content.

I don't know if there is anything wrong with being content, but I hope you don't mind if I hate you just a little.

Well, it should help that I am not content with my contentment. :chin:

I think a little contentment from time to time is a nice thing. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Edit: that wasn't meant to sound doom and gloom, more of an observation that life never sits still for long.

I'm with Curses, as long as you don't get stuck in it forever, I'm sure in the future you will be wishing you were calm and content instead of being drafted as a fighter pilot to destroy giant alien spaceships that just leveled all the major cities.
