i most certainly did get smacked. here is another picture:

well...i was at bat and hit the ball weird. it should have gone foul, but ended up more like a bunt. so i chugged it for first base and the first-baseman and pitcher went running to grab the ball and tag me out. i was in a sprint and dodged the tag, which i was happy about, but quickly realized my cadence was off and so my aim for the base was to. as i tried to correct, i stretched out and next thing i was being picked up off the ground

I just tripped over the little gap between the lobby and the elevator floor and went flying. My cheekbone did me the courtesy of breaking my fall. That shit HURTS for reals. I'm not surprised you lost consciousness for a second.

i have busted up my face over the years playing sports. the worst was when i was play a pickup game of football in a field at the side of a parking lot...just neighbourhood kids. i went running for the ball and made this cool diving catch...but i didn't see the cinder blocks that lined the field where it joined the parking lot. i landed cheek first on the corner of one while running. it was the only time as a kid i ever actually screamed in agony. i remember the doctor at the hospital telling me i almost broke my cheek bone and that it is one of the hardest bones in the body...not sure about that, but that's how my scrambled brain remembers it

lol...actually i dodged the tag! in that brief moment i was so stoked cuz i really should have been out right there, but my glory soon turned into a terrific faceplant as i overshot the base and made some weird stretch to reach it...i didn't

Getting hit in the face by the ground ... I once got hit in the face (left eyebrow ridge, I still have the scar, but it's concealed by the eyebrow) by the southbound platform of the Northern Line at Embankment station in London. I came to face-down with blood dripping from somewhere near me, that turned out to be me, and was stretchered to hospital to have stitches put in.

I fell headfirst down the stairs when my worn-out boot heel caught on the worn-out carpet threads on the top step. I put my arms out in front of me to break my fall. My forearms hit the concrete floor, followed very shortly by my chin. The nurses at the ER, they had me in stitches.
