The one true Trek ended in '69.

Roddenberry is wrong!:whup:Everyone hnows that Star Trek is a documentary - the rest of it was all actors.:P

Don't think I've met this Roddenberry woman yet, but but just because she's running for the Democrat nomination, doesn't mean she knows sheet about Star Trek.:glare:

I think they could have spent a little more time on the Enterprises B and C for continuity's sake, but still, that was beautiful. I had goosebumps through most of it and the little piccolo or fife or whatever made me all misty.

I got misty the first time I watched the "Enterprise" intro montage.

I just ordered both the complete TNG and the complete DS9 on DVD.

I'll be surprised if there are any TNG episodes I've not seen before, but I never hardly watched DS9 so those will be mostly new for me.

If I did some brainpower exercises for a couple of weeks, I'd probably be able to recite the dialogue from both series. In order.

Don't worry, you're not alone. I stood in line to see Star Wars when it hit the theaters in 1977.

Not that I didn't enjoy 'Enterprise', but archer and his crew muddling through time wars with minimal information just doesn't do it for me so much.
I enjoyed Enterprise for precisely that reason. The later-based shows are in a practical technical utopia, with the Constitution/Galaxy/Sovereign class ships being the top end of anything on the block at their time short of the Borg. (And even then Defiant had something to say about that) with the technology taken for granted. I enjoyed the healthy cynicism of Enterprise... "You take the transporting device first." "Hell, no. You do it" I think it's part of the reason I took to Firefly.

Now, that said, much of the Enterprise plotline was abysmal, but I don't blame the setting for that. Same with Andromeda: Good show, but it lost the plot around season 3.

Once, on a drive to North Carolina from Jacksonville, Patient Skeptic recited the entire script of Star Trek II from memory. I love him, but...

Once, when I was in college, my roommate and I went into a hobby store. I was looking at a model of the Enterprise (the Enterprise -- "NCC-1701, no bloody A, B, C, D or E") when a friend of my roommate's appeared. He and I soon wound up in a conversation about how the Enterprise appeared significantly more damaged in the opening scenes of Star Trek III than it had been in the closing scenes of Star Trek II.

We were pointing to the model and noting, "here's where the Reliant's first phaser strike was, right in Main Engineering; here's where the torpedo struck the primary hull, right on the main deflector gridding ...".

My roommate later said, "God! It was just like watching the scene in Star Trek II. I kept waiting for you to say, 'They knew exactly where to hit us' and for him to reply, 'Who? Who knew exactly where to hit us? And why?'!"

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that if I put my mind to it, I could recite Star Trek II in its entirety from memory. It's still the best Star Trek film ever made, in my opinion.

Oh, and my roommate (and for that matter, several of our mutual friends) was constantly referring to me as "Spock." I can't imagine why. ...

Cheers,

Michael

Jeebus. You two should have a little Star Trek Orgy at the meetup in May.
