Default Login issue

:glare:

I blame JoeP. But I am having issue logging in on my laptop. I fixed it at first by switching to IE (from Chrome) but then after about a week the same issue started happening in IE. If it starts happening on this computer too, I might completely disappear. :ohno:

When I log in it takes me to the normal screen like it is working, but then it just dumps be back to the same page I was on not logged in. It is not my password since I get different behavior if I put a bad password in. Any ideas?

Cookies have been thoroughly cleared. :cookiem:

I'd have preferred the word "thank", but the acknowledgement is welcome.

Random fault-isolation questions ...

Have you turned it off and on again?
Rebooted? Applied updates? Run a virus scan? Checked free disk space?

No sign of this happening on what I assume is another computer that is not your laptop? Suggesting it isn't some setting on your account.

Are you using any privacy extensions that might be rejecting or deleting cookies, session cookies, third party cookies, javascripts or immigrants?

Are you participating in the forum of free thinking securely or with plain http?

That sounds like the same issue I was having that I fixed by making a change to the showthread template (as mentioned here), but I don't even remember what change I made.

Holy crap I can't believe it was that I was using plain http. I not only blame JoeP, but also modern browsers that don't show that shit ion the URL anymore.

Thanks vm and also I grudgingly thank JoeP for his suggestions. :thankee:

I too have been having login issues. The site doesn't remember me and I have to log in every time, then after I log in the homepage is all weird.

Only on my PC laptop though, not my Macbook from work.

Freethought’s front page on my phone pretends like it doesn’t know me but if I click a thread I’m logged in just fine.

Well, I am running a VPN, but I was doing that before. This all started after Google force signed me out on my PC laptop about a week and a half ago. When I logged back in it had totally lost the settings for my Awesome New Tab Page extension, and I also had to start logging into :ff: again.
