vm actually created a disable smilies in all posts user option just for the pz's of the world and so far I know of at least two people who've made good use of it. You should turn it on sometime and check out this thread. It's pretty hilarious.
Now, when you say bass, do you mean guitar or violin? Because it seems to me that some of our guitar-playing types could be just as well be bassists and we'd never know.

Bass guitar, a Fender Precision to be exact (see my avatar!). I had to play a little violin in school but I was a really piss poor violinist. The fretboard I could handle, but I never could make the bow sound like anything but an overweight cat in labor. I actually am playing bass in a classic rock band, lots o' fun!
